It’s Alterme’s Third Birthday
Leaving my buying job back in 2020 was a daunting feeling, especially to go it alone with my wedding dress alteration business - which as soon as it began came to a grinding halt due to lockdown! I had made several cushions for our home and that was when my fiance said… why don’t you sell your cushions? To which I said ‘No one will buy my cushions’
Alterme is now Three!
How it all started…
For those of you that don’t aleady know - I studied fashion design at university and then went on to intern at Monsoon in the design and buying departments - I then landed a job working for a brand agency in for a small business and I used to think - one day I want to have something like this - something that is my own - several buying jobs in London later.. the last being for Harrods - I took the plunge to go full time with wedding dress alterations! Sadly after paying out to renovate our garage to a fitting and sewing room, 6 appointments in, I had to stop working - I was utterly heartbroken!
That’s when my fiancé Jack planted the seed to start selling my cushions and it has grown from there!
The Inspiration
“I love beautiful neutral colour palettes and fabrics, as well as nature which inspires the prints I pick. I always struggled with high street cushions and decided to sew my own - which is why I created Alterme Home, each item has been hand made & fabric hand picked to achieve a wonderful collection of soft furnishings to suit any home ”
So Far
It’s amazing to see how far I’ve come; building my own website, doing the branding, taking the photos, being featured in The World of Interiors magazine, doing a live ‘set your table with Alterme home’, being stocked in independent shops, launching the ‘made to measure curtains’ part of the business - with the help of my Mum…to now - launching my very own fabrics! There’s been stress & tears along the way but so many happy memories & achievements have made it all worth it!
The Future
This year has been a challenge so far, and I have been quite stressed at how this year will pan out with the cost of living and everything else in the mix, but the only thing I can do is keep going, stay positive & remember why I started! I’ve got lots of big plans and goals and projects that I hope you will all continue to love!!
That being said I could not have done all of this without the wonderful support I receive on here & I am eternally grateful for each and every one of you!
Thank you for making my dreams come true! To celebrate 3 years there is 30% off all orders over £50 until the end of the month - here’s to the next year & lots of exciting things to come !!
